Coffee processing at the Ruarai Factory, managed by the Ruthaka Farmers Cooperative Society, involves cherries from cooperative members with half-acre plots. This cooperative, situated in Ga-kindu, Nyeri County, includes various factories like Kamuchuni, Nduma, Muthuthiini, Mukui, Kibutio, and Karaba. Located at 1700-1800 MASL, the area benefits from fertile volcanic soils and ample rainfall. Coffee varieties like SL28, SL34, Ruiru 11, and Batian thrive here. Post-harvest, cherries undergo de-pulping, fermentation, and washing, followed by drying and resting on elevated beds. This meticulous process results in exceptional coffee beans, a testament to the cooperative's dedication to quality.
